Albany, NY - November 24, 2014 – Neenah Bland has been formally named the Executive Director of Albany Community Action Partnership (ACAP) by their Board of Directors. Ms. Bland officially assumed this role on November 20, 2014.

"Neenah has proven to be a leader in the fight to end poverty. We look forward to a great future with her leadership," says ACAP Board of Directors President, Nathan Lebrón. “Neenah's inspirational story of perseverance proves that diligence and dedication can transform someone's life.”

Ms. Bland’s experience uniquely positions her to assume this post as ACAP’s new Executive Director. With significant experience in non-for-profit management, program development and community relations, Ms. Bland looks to advance ACAP’s current strategic plan and guide future contributions to the greater Capital Region.

“I am honored and humbled to serve ACAP and our community in this capacity. Growing up in the Arbor Hill community of Albany and being a teenage mom with two children who both attended Head Start, I understand what it feels like to live in the face of poverty. I am energized by this new career challenge. I look forward to working with the entire community to share in ACAP’s vision for the future by leading an organization that is passionately committed to helping people improve their quality of life and recognize the importance of asset development to support long term change in alleviating the effects of poverty within Albany County,” Ms. Bland shared.

Ms. Bland holds a Master’s degree in Education from The College of Saint Rose and a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services from the State University of New York at Albany. Ms. Bland has been with ACAP for 11 years and served as Acting Executive Director during the leadership transition. Prior to the interim position, she served as Director of Community and Career Services where she developed innovative programming that received national recognition for outcome performances. She continued,

“I believe we all have a personal calling and the best way to succeed is to share your gifts with others. It is my hope to share my gifts with our community in the form of quality service, a commitment to collaboration and staying true to our mission.”
