Albany Community Action Partnership's Early Start program is a full-day Early Education program with 2 locations to serve Albany City families who have children ages six weeks to five years old. The Early Learning Center opened its doors on Monroe Street in downtown Albany in 2003, and it provides a much needed service for the city. and the Ontario Early Education Center, our new location, at 170 Ontario Street opened in February 2014 providing additional child care opportunities for Albany families.
Both centers operate Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., offering children a wide variety of developmentally appropriate activities in a warm, nurturing environment at affordable rates(including Department of Social Services subsidized care enrollment acceptance), with dedicated and educated teachers and staff members. Along with learning activities, the center provides nutritious meals, opportunities for rest and napping, as well as time to engage in fine and gross motor activities.
As an alternative to a center-based program, there is a home-based option which follows the Parent Child Home Program model.
In addition, both facilities also offer classrooms providing Head Start programming and integrated classroom placement for children with special needs. The centers are licensed and regulated by the New York State Office of Child and Family Services to provide services for infants, toddlers, and preschool children.
ACAP strives to make both our locations premier Early Education facilities to meet the ever changing needs of working families in Albany County.
