Early Childhood Education
Albany Community Action Partnership (ACAP) offers several options for early childhood education in Albany County. Every childhood program ACAP operates follows strict adherence to licensing regulations instituted by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services and/or the NYS Department of Education.
The programs not only meet those federal guidelines, but often go beyond what is required by law to ensure quality, comprehensive care for Albany County children and families. Many of our programs also offer transportation to and from the centers (transportation is not guaranteed for all children at all centers.)
ACAP works in collaboration with local school districts to provide Universal Pre-Kindergarten programming. Current locations include classrooms in Albany, Cohoes, Watervliet, and Berne-Knox-Westerlo.
Head Start programs are offered in more than a dozen locations in Albany County in addition to Head Start Home-Based programs. These programs provide comprehensive health, education and family development services to prepare children for school.
ACAP also provides child care through its Early Learning Center, Ontario Early Education Center, and Family Court Children’s Center.
